Biography

Stephanie Thomas is a Democratic politician serving as Connecticut's 75th Secretary of the State since January 4, 2023. She previously represented the 143rd District in the Connecticut House of Representatives from 2021 to 2023. Notable achievements include leading the rollout of early in-person voting, securing $25 million for new voting tabulators, implementing the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act of Connecticut, and expanding automatic voter registration. She is the first African-American to hold the office, serves on the Executive Board of the National Association of Secretaries of State, and has testified before Congress on election security.
