Biography

Stephanie M. Smith is a Democratic delegate representing District 45 in Baltimore City, Maryland House of Delegates. Born on May 20, 1981, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, she has served since 2019 and was re-elected for her second term. She lives in a multi-generational East Baltimore household with her husband, two young sons, and mother, and is a parent in Baltimore City Public Schools. Notable achievements include sponsoring over 30 pieces of legislation in four sessions, such as the CROWN Act prohibiting discrimination based on natural and protective hairstyles; receiving the "Very Important Professionals Successful by 40" award from The Daily Record in 2019; and current leadership roles as Parliamentarian for the Maryland House of Delegates, Chair of the Baltimore City Delegation , and Chair of the Education and Economic Development Subcommittee on the Appropriations Committee.
