Biography
Stephanie Pitcher is a Democratic State Senator representing Utah Senate District 14, which includes communities such as Murray, Holladay, Millcreek, Cottonwood Heights, and parts of Salt Lake City. Elected to the Utah Senate in November 2022 after serving two terms in the Utah House of Representatives from District 40, she is an attorney, former prosecutor for Davis County, and advocate for innovation, bipartisanship, governmental transparency, and criminal justice reform. Notable achievements include passing legislation to improve air quality by targeting unlawful vehicle polluters, banning shackling of pregnant inmates during labor, allowing campaign funds for childcare, creating a Victim Address Confidentiality Program, and reforming cash bail to consider risk factors. In the 2025 session, she passed 14 bills—more than any other Democrat and most Republicans—including measures on autopsy photo privacy, AI in police reports, juvenile legal access, and jail evidence access. She is also an International Candidate Master in chess and eight-time Utah Women’s State Chess Champion.
