Biography

Stephanie D. Howse, a Democrat, is a Cleveland City Council member representing Ward 7. Born August 21, 1979, in Cleveland, Ohio, she previously served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022 and briefly on Cleveland City Council in 2008. Notable achievements include co-founding Footprints, a mentoring organization for girls ages 9-17 focused on leadership and self-respect; advocating for racial and environmental justice, closing the gender pay gap, and equity for marginalized communities; and honors such as 2020 Trainer at Progressive Governance Academy, 2019 Honorary Chair for Cleveland Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and 2017 Fellow at Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development. Inspired by her mother, former State Representative Annie L. Key , Howse has worked as an engineer, educator, consultant in youth development, sustainability, and STEM, and held roles like Cleveland Executive Fellow and Ohio Democratic Party Field Director.
