Biography
Stefano V. Famiglietti is a Democrat representing Rhode Island Senate District 4 . A lifelong North Providence resident and attorney in private practice, he won a special election in August 2025 to succeed the late Senate President Dominick J. Ruggerio, defeating Republican Alex Asermely with 83% of the vote. Notable achievements include a landslide primary win over three contenders and a general election overperformance of 45-56 points compared to 2024 Democratic results, signaling strong party enthusiasm. He previously served as president of the North Providence Town Council and chairs the North Providence Democratic Town Committee; he resigned his council seat on August 14, 2025, to join the Senate. Famiglietti identifies as pro-Second Amendment and personally opposes abortion due to his Catholic faith but supports Rhode Island's reproductive health laws.
