Biography

Stanley Chang is a Democrat representing District 9 in the Hawaii State Senate, covering areas including Hawaii Kai, Waialae-Kahala, Diamond Head, Kuliouou, Niu, and Aina Haina on Oʻahu. A lifelong resident of Waialae-Kahala in East Honolulu, he was raised by immigrant parents from China who emphasized responsibility, humility, and honesty. He chairs the Senate Housing Committee since 2018, advocating for innovative housing solutions like the "ALOHA Homes" plan for high-density units and models inspired by Singapore and Vienna to address Hawaii's housing shortage. Other notable positions include membership on the Senate Committee on Water, Land, Culture and the Arts, and support for climate measures such as carbon emissions taxes and sea-level rise disclosures.
