Biography

Stan May is a Republican representing Oklahoma House District 80, which includes parts of Broken Arrow, Bixby, and Tulsa. A former firefighter with over 30 years at the Tulsa Fire Department, he retired in 2021 as public information officer after serving as president of Tulsa Firefighters Local 176. Originally from Kansas and raised on a family dairy farm, he responded to major disasters, including the 2011 Joplin tornado and 2013 Moore tornado. He resides with his wife Jennifer, three children, and several grandchildren.

Education and Political Experience

May graduated from Southern Nazarene University and Rhema Bible Training College.

He has served House District 80 since 2018 and was elected House Majority Caucus Chair in 2022, reelected in 2024. He serves as Vice Chair of Banking, Financial Services and Pensions, and on Energy, Government Oversight, and Public Safety committees. Notable achievements include advancing firefighter benefits like the first cost-of-living adjustment for retirees , protecting MDA collections , reinstating 20-year pensions , establishing the State First Responder Wellness program , and securing Urban Search and Rescue funding.
