Biography
Stan Gerdes is a Republican representing Texas House District 17, which he has served since 2023. A fifth-generation Central Texan born on January 23, 1986, he grew up in Waco, resides in Smithville, and prioritizes conservative principles like protecting the right to life, defending individual liberties, upholding the Second Amendment, property tax cuts, border security, rural law enforcement funding, and water resource management.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2008.
- Political Experience: Worked with former Governor Rick Perry for over a decade, including as director of scheduling for Perry's PAC and 2016 presidential campaign staff; served as Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Energy , leading efforts on energy independence, national lab visits, and promoting U.S. energy abroad. In his first legislative session , passed the largest property tax cut in Texas history , secured $5.1 billion for border security, increased rural law enforcement funding, and helped create the Texas Water Fund.
