Biography
Stan Ellis represents California's 32nd Assembly District, covering Kern and Tulare Counties. Born July 4, 1952, on a hog farm in South Dakota, he is a businessman and technologist who settled in Kern County, California. Ellis founded businesses in oil, agriculture, chemical processing, reclamation, and quantum technology, including innovations in quantum communication, networking, and medical research. He previously owned the Bakersfield Jam basketball franchise. Ellis entered politics focusing on water security, energy independence, and Central Valley economic growth. After placing 6th in the 2024 U.S. House primary for California's 20th District and losing a 2006 Assembly primary, he won the 2025 special election for AD-32, succeeding Vince Fong, and was sworn in March 2025. He serves as Vice Chair of Aging and Long-Term Care, Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials, and Natural Resources committees, and as a member of the Insurance committee. In 2026, he announced he will not seek reelection.
