Biography
Elizabeth "Spencer" Wetmore is a Democratic representative for District 115 in the South Carolina House of Representatives. Born on April 22, 1983, in Charleston, South Carolina, she is an attorney at Wetmore Law Firm and resides in Folly Beach with her husband, Burns Malone Wetmore , and their two daughters, Brooks and Lola Kate. Notable positions include service on the House Judiciary Committee and the Regulations and Administrative Procedures Committee . On January 9, 2026, she announced she would not seek re-election in 2026.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Academic Magnet High School in North Charleston; Princeton University ; Vanderbilt University Law School .
- Professional Experience: Sworn into the South Carolina Bar in 2010; served as Assistant Solicitor/Prosecutor for the Ninth Circuit Solicitor’s Office in Charleston County ; City Manager/Administrator for Folly Beach ; Member, Tourism Expenditure Review Committee .
- Political Experience: Elected in a special election on August 11, 2020, to succeed Peter McCoy in District 115.
