Senator Spencer Kern
Spencer Montgomery Kern is a Republican state senator representing Oklahoma Senate District 31. Born in March 1969 in Victoria, Texas, Kern has built a career rooted in agriculture, small business, and energy sectors. He was sworn into office on November 13, 2024, after winning the Republican primary with 50.6% of the vote to succeed Chris Kidd.
Kern's professional journey began with a leadership role at a livestock auction in Edna, Texas. In 2000, he relocated to Oklahoma, where he managed his family's farm in Indiahoma and took the helm at the Stockman Oklahoma Commission firm at the Oklahoma National Stockyards. He later became a partner in Apache Video Auction and expanded into small business ownership with his wife, Leslee, when they acquired and operated R & S Drugstores in Duncan, Oklahoma.
Education
Kern holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Texas A&M University, providing foundational knowledge in agricultural principles and practices.
Political Experience
Kern currently serves on several committee assignments in the Oklahoma Senate, including Agriculture and Wildlife, OMES, Energy, and Public Safety.
