Representative Spencer Frye

Spencer Frye is a Democratic member of the Georgia House of Representatives serving District 122, which includes portions of Athens and Winterville. First elected in 2012, he currently holds the position of Minority Caucus Vice-Chairman and serves as Executive Director of Athens Habitat for Humanity.

Born on December 14, 1967, Spencer Robert Frye is a small business owner, construction manager, and entrepreneur who has exported American ambulances overseas and co-founded an environmental company focused on recyclable motor oil, now operating globally.

He began his political career with a 2010 run for Athens Mayor and won his House seat in 2012 for the then-118th District with 70.42% of the vote.

Frye advocates for affordable healthcare , education, clean air and water, affordable housing, child safety, transportation, and waterway protection.

He serves on committees including Appropriations, Creative Arts & Entertainment, Game, Fish & Parks, Human Relations & Aging, Public and Community Health, Transportation, and Ways & Means.

Married to Gretchen, an emergency room nurse, he has two children attending public schools in Athens-Clarke County.
