Biography
Sheree L. Sample-Hughes is a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates representing District 37A . First elected in 2014 and serving since 2015, she has held notable leadership roles including Speaker Pro Tempore , the first African-American woman elected to the Wicomico County Council in 2006, president of the Maryland Women's Legislative Caucus , and since 2019, the only Democrat and person of color representing the Eastern Shore in the Maryland General Assembly. She currently serves on the Government, Labor, and Elections Committee and has prior assignments in Judiciary, Economic Matters, and Health and Government Operations Committees.
