Senator Shelly Short is a Republican representing Washington's 7th Legislative District, which spans Ferry, Pend Oreille, and Stevens counties, and parts of Okanogan, Spokane, Chelan, and Douglas counties.
Shelly Anne Short , born April 3, 1962, in Spokane, Washington, resides in Addy. A champion for rural lifestyles, agriculture, water needs, affordable energy, and natural resource management, she serves as Republican Floor Leader in the Washington State Senate, coordinating floor tactics and debate on issues like taxation, health care, and education. Notable achievements include leadership on energy policy to protect low-cost electricity, recognition from the Washington Farm Bureau, Hunters Heritage Council, and National Federation of Independent Business, and committee roles such as Ranking Member of Agriculture & Natural Resources and member of Environment, Energy & Technology, Rules, and the Western States Legislative Forestry Task Force. Elected to the House in 2008 and the Senate in 2017 after replacing Brian Dansel, she has held prior leadership positions like Minority Caucus Chair in the House.
