Shelly Fyant is a Democratic representative for House District 91 in the Montana House of Representatives, elected in 2024. She represents rural areas including Ronan, Arlee, and Missoula's Upper Rattlesnake across Lake, Missoula, and Sanders counties. A biracial member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes , she was born in St. Ignatius, Montana, and has focused on community issues like voting rights, environmental quality, youth education, and food sovereignty. Notable achievements include serving two terms on the CSKT Tribal Council, acting as chairwoman in 2020-2021 to lead through the pandemic with cross-aisle collaboration, establishing the CSKT Food Sovereignty Committee and pilot program, and passing the Cultural Waterways Ordinance to protect the Flathead River.

Education and Political Experience

• Education: Earned a BS in Business Administration from the University of Montana.
• Political Experience: Currently serves on the House State Administration, House Energy, Technology and Federal Relations, House Local Government, and House Legislative Administration committees in her first legislative session . Previously worked as a food sovereignty consultant and Food Sovereignty Chair for the Arlee Community Development Corporation. Supports Medicaid expansion and bipartisan legislation.
