Biography
Shawn McPherson represents Kentucky's 22nd House District, which includes Allen and Simpson Counties as well as part of Warren County. Born on July 5, 1965, in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, he was raised on his family's dairy farm in Monroe County, where he milked cows, raised livestock, and grew tobacco. A businessman and real estate appraiser, he founded McPherson Appraisal Service in 1995 after working for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Kentucky Highway Department. He has held leadership roles in family-owned assisted living facilities, including CEO of Highland Ridge Assisted Living and CFO of Companion Care Services and Palmer Place Assisted Living. Notable community involvement includes serving as chairman of the UK Extension Board, member of the AG Developmental Board and PVA Tax Appeal Board, and treasurer of the Meador Volunteer Fire Department for 27 years. McPherson is a member of the Church of Christ and resides in Scottsville.
Education and Political Experience
McPherson graduated from Gamaliel High School, where he was active in FFA. He earned a Bachelor of Science in agricultural business and a Master of Science in animal nutrition , both from Western Kentucky University.
He has served in the Kentucky House of Representatives since 2021. In 2024, he ran unopposed in both the Republican primary and general election. McPherson advocates for conservative policies, including reopening businesses and improving job growth, drawing on his experience working with state and federal politicians such as Congressman James Comer.
