Shaun Scott is a Democratic state representative for Washington's 43rd Legislative District, Position 2. Born on November 8, 1984, he is a filmmaker, writer, activist, and the first socialist elected to the Washington State Legislature since 1912. He lives in Seattle's University District and authored the book Heartbreak City: Seattle Sports and the Unmet Promise of Urban Progress.

Education and Political Experience

• Education: Studied history at the University of Washington.
• Political Experience: Elected in 2024 after winning the primary with 59.6% and the general election with 68.43%. Previously served as a field organizer for U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, Washington State Field Director for Bernie Sanders' 2020 presidential campaign, and is a member of the 43rd LD Democrats and Seattle Democratic Socialists of America.
