Biography
Sharon L. Henderson is a Democratic member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 113 since 2021. She was elected in 2020, reelected in 2022 and 2024, and resides in Covington, GA, with her spouse Jerome and four children. Henderson has a background in ministry, serving as pastor of New Bethel Love Center in Summerville, South Carolina , and elevated to Bishop in 2005; she organized community charity programs. She worked over 30 years in banking and finance, earning the “Sustained Superior Performance Award” and “Award of Excellence in Banking,” and later as a substitute teacher, Special Needs Paraprofessional, and co-teacher in Fulton County Schools. She is active in community service, including feeding the homeless, advocating for seniors and special needs, mental health counseling, NAACP , Newton/Rockdale County Democratic Party, and as a volunteer chaplain at Rockdale Medical Center. In 2023, she faced federal charges for allegedly fraudulently collecting $17,811 in pandemic unemployment benefits while a candidate and after being sworn in as representative.
