Biography
Sharon Chung is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 91st District since January 2023. She is the first Korean American elected to the Illinois General Assembly and the first Democrat to represent Bloomington-Normal in the House since 1982. A mother, teacher, and professional musician, Chung is the daughter of Korean immigrants, born and raised in the Chicago suburbs. She moved to Bloomington to attend college, later returning with her husband Jeremy and their two daughters, Sophie and Mia, calling the area home since 2009. As a violist and violinist, she is an active member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 301 and performs across Central Illinois. Notable achievements include winning re-election in 2024 and endorsing the Kamala Harris 2024 presidential campaign.

- Education: B.M. from Illinois Wesleyan University; M.M. from Northwestern University.
- Political Experience: Elected to the McLean County Board in 2018 as the first Asian American in county history, representing District 7 and serving on the Land Use and Development, Health, and Justice Committees to improve government transparency. Elected to the Illinois House in 2022. Serves on House Committees for Agriculture & Conservation, Counties & Townships, Health Care Licenses, and Higher Education.
