Biography
Sharlett Mena is a Democrat representing Washington's 29th Legislative District, Position 2 in the House of Representatives. She is the proud daughter of Mexican immigrants, a public servant, and community organizer with a focus on environmental justice, clean air and water, climate action, and supporting working families. Currently, she serves as Chair of the State Government & Tribal Relations Committee and as a member of the Environment & Energy and Finance committees. Notable roles include leadership at the Washington State Department of Ecology, board positions with Fuse Washington, Progreso, Planned Parenthood Votes Washington PAC, and the South Tacoma Neighborhood Council, and appointment by Governor Jay Inslee to the Governor’s Pandemic After Action Review Task Force representing the immigrant community. She is also an elected Precinct Committee Officer for the 29th Legislative District Democrats.
Education and Political Experience
Sharlett Mena has nearly a decade of policy experience advancing issues for working families. Prior to her role at the Department of Ecology, she worked in the U.S. House of Representatives, the Washington State Senate, and for Governor Jay Inslee. Her legislative service includes activity from 2023 through 2025 sessions.
