Senator Sharif Street represents Pennsylvania's 3rd Senatorial District in the Pennsylvania State Senate, covering North Philadelphia and surrounding areas including Nicetown, Lower Germantown, Logan, Olney, Fern Rock, Crescentville, East Oak Lane, East Wyoming, East Hunting Park, Francisville, Fairmont, Lawncrest, and Melrose Park Garden, serving over 240,000 residents.

Born March 29, 1974, in Philadelphia, he is an attorney, the first Muslim elected to the Pennsylvania State Senate in 2016, and the first Black chairperson of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party .

Notable achievements include spearheading PENNIE , creating the Urban Agriculture Infrastructure Grant Program, advocating cannabis reform , criminal justice reform , climate change legislation, and facilitating Philadelphia Green Communities.

He serves as Democratic Chair of the Banking and Insurance Committee, member of Appropriations, Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing, Joint Legislative Air and Water Pollution Control and Conservation Committee, and Democratic Chair of the Pennsylvania Crime Prevention Caucus.

Married to April Street with five children, residing in North Philadelphia.
