Biography
Shannon Latham is a Republican serving as Iowa State Representative for District 55 . Born in 1971 in Charles City, she resides in Sheffield with her husband, John, and their two children . She is co-owner of Latham Hi-Tech Seeds in Alexander and Sheffield. Currently in her second term , she previously served her first term . Notable achievements include serving as inaugural chair of the American Seed Trade Association’s Communications Committee, membership on the Advisory Council for Iowa Food and Family Project, and past board roles with the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center, Iowa State University’s Agricultural Entrepreneurial Initiative, Iowa 4-H Foundation, Franklin County 4-H Foundation, and as a Girl Scouts leader. She serves on standing committees including Agriculture, Appropriations, Commerce, and Economic Growth and Technology.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: B.S. in agricultural journalism and public service and administration in agriculture from Iowa State University ; M.B.A. from University of Iowa.
- Political Experience: Elected to Iowa House of Representatives for District 55 in 2022; re-elected for second term starting January 2025.
