Biography
A. Shane Massey is a Republican politician representing District 25 in the South Carolina Senate, which includes Aiken, Edgefield, Lexington, McCormick, and Saluda Counties. First elected in a 2007 special election, he has served continuously since then and became Senate Majority Leader in 2016. He chairs the Senate Rules Committee and serves on committees including Agriculture and Natural Resources, Education, Judiciary, Labor, Commerce and Industry, and Legislative Oversight. Notable achievements include pushing for recorded votes on all legislation in 2011, voter photo ID requirements, regulatory reform, and deficit spending restrictions; he was named a 2014 Washington Post rising star under 40 and a Liberty Fellow and Rodel Fellow . Massey is an attorney at Massey & Massey, married to Blair with two children, and active in community roles such as coaching mock trial, mentoring students, and serving on boards like Edgefield County United Way and Upper Savannah Council of Governments.
