Biography
Senator Shane Martin
Shane R. Martin is a Republican State Senator representing District 13 in South Carolina, which encompasses Greenville, Spartanburg, and Union counties. Born on December 31, 1971, in Spartanburg County, he is a native and lifelong resident of the area. Martin is a devout Christian and an active member and ordained deacon at Philadelphia Baptist Church. He is married to Amy and has two children: daughter Ashlyn and son Aidan .
Before his election to the state senate, Martin served on the Spartanburg School District 6 school board from 2005 to 2008, when he resigned to pursue his state legislative career. He began his tenure in the South Carolina State Senate in 2009 and continues to serve today. Martin is known for his conservative principles and fights to uphold Christian and conservative values in the legislature.
Education
Martin holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University, earning his Bachelor of Science in 1994 and his Master of Science in 1999. He graduated from Dorman High School in 1990.
Political Experience
Martin leveraged his engineering education to establish a successful business specializing in aerodynamic testing and program management. In the state legislature, he has assumed several significant leadership roles:

Martin is also Chairman of the Spartanburg County Legislative Delegation and maintains active involvement in professional organizations, including membership in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers since 1994.
