Biography
Representative Sequanna Taylor
Sequanna Taylor is a Democratic state representative from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, representing the 11th Assembly District. She was born in Milwaukee on July 29, 1979, and has four children and six grandchildren.
Education
Taylor holds a degree in Criminal Justice from Concordia University.
Political Experience
Taylor began her public service career on the Milwaukee County Board, where she was first elected in 2016 and served four consecutive terms. She also served on the Milwaukee School Board from 2019 to 2023.
In 2024, Taylor ran for the Wisconsin State Assembly and won the Democratic primary for the 11th Assembly District with 83.25% of the vote. With no Republican opposition in the district, her primary victory secured her election. She was sworn in as State Representative for the 11th Assembly District for the 2025-2026 legislative session.
During the current legislative session, Taylor serves on two committees: the Assembly Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety and the Joint Legislative Audit Committee. Taylor has cited her experience on the county board as inspiration for running for state office.
