Biography
Sean Faircloth is a Democratic State Representative for House District 24 in Maine, representing parts of Bangor, Brewer, Orono, and Veazie in Penobscot County. He assumed office on February 25, 2025, following a special election victory, marking his fifth nonconsecutive term in the Maine Legislature. Previously, he served as State Senator from the ninth district , State Representative from the 17th, 117th, and 118th districts , and Mayor of Bangor. Notable achievements include initiating the Maine Multicultural Center and Maine Discovery Museum as mayor, authoring books like Attack of the Theocrats! , leading opposition to cuts in children's mental health programs, pioneering Maine's first law criminalizing child pornography possession, improving school nutrition standards, and earning high scores from the Maine League of Conservation Voters for environmental leadership, including the EnergySmart program and LD242 on cumulative environmental impacts. He currently serves on the Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee and has prior experience as Maine Assistant Attorney General and executive director of Together Place Peer Run Recovery Center.
