Biography

Sean D. Cleary is a Republican member of the North Dakota Senate representing District 35 since 2023. An economist by profession, he currently serves as a Grant Writer for the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation. He is married to Amy and has two children. Cleary won the Republican primary and defeated Democratic nominee Tracy Potter in the general election.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: BS in Social and Behavioral Sciences from the University of Mary; MS in Applied Economics from the University of North Dakota.
  • Political Experience: Served on the staff of U.S. Senator John Hoeven in Washington, D.C.; later worked on the staff of Governor Doug Burgum in North Dakota. Previously employed as a project manager for National Information Solutions Cooperative, focusing on rural electric cooperatives and broadband. Elected to the North Dakota Senate in 2022.
