Biography

Sean Camacho

Political Party: Democratic

District: Colorado House District 6

Position: State Representative

Sean Camacho is an American politician representing the 6th district of the Colorado House of Representatives. He grew up in a modest home in Colorado Springs with his parents and extended family. His father immigrated from Guam and his mother from Puerto Rico, both seeking opportunities to raise their family in Colorado.

Camacho is a proud parent, Latino, and Air Force Reservist who currently serves in the reserve. He is married and has two children. Outside of his professional responsibilities, he finds fulfillment through spending time with family, volunteer work in the Denver community, and supporting Democratic candidates.

Education and Professional Background

After completing law school, Camacho and his family relocated to the Lowry neighborhood in Denver, where they established their home. He has worked as an attorney and continues to serve in the Air Force Reserve. His professional background combines legal expertise with military service experience, including prior work as a military intelligence officer.

Political Experience

Camacho's political journey began after moving to Denver, where he became involved with the Denver Democrats community. He started his activism by volunteering on local campaigns, knocking on doors, and helping raise funds for Democratic candidates. His political evolution reflects a shift from his Republican upbringing in Colorado Springs. He was registered as a Republican until October 2017, when he became unaffiliated, and formally registered as a Democrat in August 2019. He attributes this evolution to challenges he encountered during law school that prompted him to reconsider his earlier political beliefs.

He was elected to the state House in 2024, succeeding Elisabeth Epps. His legislative priorities include modernizing the state tax code, examining TABOR , and addressing affordable housing—an issue he emphasizes as a main focus for his tenure.
