Biography
Sean Bagniewski is a Democratic attorney representing Iowa House District 35 since January 2023. Raised in a trailer park by a single mother, he now resides in Des Moines with his wife, Lindsay, and one son. Notable achievements include clerking for Governor Tom Vilsack, chairing the Polk County Democrats , passing his first bill at Drake Law School in 2008 , co-founding the New Iowa Project to boost voter registration and turnout, and serving as president of the Beaverdale Neighborhood Association. He serves on the House Committee on Administration and Rules.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree from Truman State University ; law degree from Drake University Law School.
- Political Experience: Elected in 2022 after redistricting, winning the Democratic primary unopposed and general election ; serving first term in Iowa House ; prior roles include chair of Polk County Democrats and volunteer with Perkins Elementary PTA and Des Moines Neighbors.
