Biography
Scott Wiggam is a Republican who previously served as a four-term Ohio State Representative for District 1 and currently serves as Wayne County Clerk of Courts. A U.S. Air Force veteran with four years of active duty and an Air Force Commendation Medal, he is married to Katie with three children: George, Calvin, and Lauren. He owned and operated a restaurant, served on community boards including the Wooster Area YMCA, Triway and Wooster Soccer Associations, and is a member of the National Rifle Association, Heritage Foundation, and Ohio Township Association.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree from Asbury University; Master's degree in Political Science from the University of Akron.
- Political Experience: Elected Wayne County Commissioner in 2004 for three terms, implementing fiscally responsible policies that avoided tax increases during the 2008 crisis and reduced spending. Served four terms as Ohio State Representative, including as Chairman of the House State and Local Government Committee, where he authored bills to lower taxes, reduce government overreach, and improve Clerk of Courts efficiency. Currently in his first term as Wayne County Clerk of Courts, overseeing court records, administration, and title offices. Previously worked as lead legislative associate for the Christian Coalition of America, Inc., to the U.S. House of Representatives.
