Biography
Scott D. Sandall is a Republican member of the Utah State Senate representing District 1, which covers all of Box Elder County and parts of Cache and Tooele counties. Born and raised in Tremonton, Utah, he is a fourth-generation farmer and rancher who owns and operates Sandall Ranches in Promontory. He and his wife, Christie, have four children and 14 grandchildren; in his free time, he enjoys golfing.
Education and Political Experience
Sandall graduated magna cum laude with a BS in agricultural economics from Brigham Young University in 1985. Before entering politics, he served as president of the Box Elder County Farm Bureau and as a Utah Farm Bureau state board member, and volunteered with the Bear River High School community council and as a local Scout leader.
His political career began in the Utah House of Representatives, where he served District 17 from 2015 to 2018. He won his first election in 2014 with 77.3% of the vote. In 2019, he joined the Utah State Senate for District 17 . He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Executive Appropriations Committee. Notable achievements include passing three of four bills introduced in the 2016 session and floor sponsoring key legislation on water rights and sage grouse mitigation.
