Senator Scott Meyer

Scott Meyer is a Republican Senator representing District 18 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Outside of his legislative duties, he works as a Mortgage Planner for Benchmark Mortgage. He is a member of Sertoma. Meyer has received recognition from the Department of Defense, earning a Certificate of Appreciation for Quality of Life policy for service members and their families in 2019 and 2021. In 2022, he was designated as a Fellow of the National Security Forum at the Air War College.

Education

Meyer holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from UND.

Political Experience

Meyer has served in the North Dakota Senate since 2017. His legislative tenure includes participation in the 66th, 67th, 68th, and 69th Legislative Assemblies, encompassing regular and special sessions from 2019 through 2026.

Throughout his service, Meyer has held various leadership roles and committee assignments. During the 2021 legislative session, he served as Chairman of the Workers' Compensation Review Committee and Vice Chair of the Senate Government and Veterans Affairs Committee. In 2023, he served as Vice Chair of the Legislative Audit and Fiscal Review Committee. He has been a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee during the 2023 and 2025 sessions.

His interim committee work includes service on the Budget Section, Higher Education Funding Review Committee, Higher Education Institutions Committee, Tribal and State Relations Committee, Commerce Committee, Government Administration Committee, and Taxation Committee. Additionally, he has served on North Dakota Statutory Committees, including the Commission on Legal Counsel for Indigents and the State Council for Interstate Adult Offender Supervision.
