Gray was born on March 7 in Carthage, New York. He is the fourth-generation owner of Gray's Flower Shop in Watertown, where he currently resides. As a small business owner, he has focused on understanding the economic challenges facing the region, particularly the difficulties residents face in sustaining livelihoods and remaining in the area.

Political Experience

Gray brings extensive local government experience to his Assembly role. He served as Chairman of the Jefferson County Board of Legislators for six years and as a legislator for 21 years in total, demonstrating a long commitment to public service at the county level.

He was elected to the New York State Assembly on November 8, 2022, after winning the Republican primary against businesswoman Susan Duffy. In the general election, Gray defeated Duffy with 70% of the vote to her 30%. He was sworn in on January 3, 2023, and was re-elected in 2024.

Notable Achievements and Current Priorities

Gray's first bill introduced to the Assembly addressed public safety at Ogdensburg International Airport, allowing the Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority to hire peace officers. The bill passed the Assembly in May 2023.

He has received recognition for his service, including the Secretary of the Army's Public Service Commendation Medal in acknowledgment of his contributions to Army-related activities.

Currently serving on the Assembly Committee on Higher Education, Gray has prioritized three main areas for 2026: energy, education, and health care. His policy focus includes supporting agriculture and tourism industries, cultivating economic connections with Fort Drum military installation, promoting job creation, and supporting rural health care providers and emergency services.
