Biography
Scott Beck

Current Position: Vermont State Senator
Scott Beck was born and raised in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, where he currently resides with his wife and six children. He is deeply rooted in the Northeast Kingdom community and has been actively involved in local civic life for many years.
Education and Military Service
Beck completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Washington before entering the United States Navy, where he served as a Naval Flight Officer until 1999. During his naval career, he made three extended deployments and earned two Air Medals for combat missions flown in Bosnia and Somalia. He also received a Navy Commendation Medal, two Navy Achievement medals, and numerous campaign medals and ribbons. Beck logged over 1,100 hours in jet aircraft and completed nearly 300 carrier arrested landings.
After his military service, Beck earned two Master of Education degrees in social science and mathematics from The Citadel.
Political Experience and Community Leadership
Beck teaches American history, American government, and economics at Johnsbury Academy. He has served as chair of the Downtown Improvement Commission and as Executive Director of the St. Johnsbury Chamber of Commerce, where he initiated the Discover St. Johnsbury campaign and helped with the reconstruction of a historic fire-damaged building.
In the Vermont Senate, Beck serves on multiple committees including the Senate Committee on Finance, Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Energy , Senate Rules Committee, and serves on several joint legislative committees. He was appointed to the School District Redistricting Task Force and is recognized as an influential voice in the legislature, particularly on education policy matters.
