Biography
Sarah Vance
Sarah L. Vance is an American politician from Alaska born on August 18, 1979, in Texas. She is a Republican member of the Alaska House of Representatives, currently representing the 6th district . Vance has resided in Homer, Alaska, where she is raising her family with her husband Jeff.
Vance's connection to her community runs deep, having grown up in Homer. Her early experiences shaped her public service philosophy, including work in Alaska's fishing and tourism industries alongside lessons learned from her family business. She is recognized as a national leader on many important issues, with a fervent passion for preserving the essence of small-town Alaska and fostering a safe, vibrant community with opportunities for all.
Education
Vance attended *Kenai Peninsula College * for her higher education.
Political Experience
Vance began her political career as Co-Chair and spokesperson for Heartbeat of Homer, a local recall campaign against three members of the Homer City Council over transparency complaints.
She assumed office in the Alaska House of Representatives on January 16, 2019, initially representing the 31st district before redistricting moved her to the 6th district in 2023. She was re-elected in 2024, defeating independent challenger Brent Johnson in a ranked-choice election.
Currently in her third term, Vance holds several pivotal leadership roles:

- Chair of the House Special Committee on Fisheries
- Vice-Chair of the House Transportation Committee
- Member of the House Special Committee on Tribal Affairs
- Member of the Legislative Budget & Audit Committee
Additionally, she serves as an ex-officio member of the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute Board and is a member of the Governor's Council on Human & Sex Trafficking, which represents one of her top criminal justice priorities.
