Biography
Sarah K. Peake is a Democrat who represented the 4th Barnstable District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 2007 to 2024, covering parts of Cape Cod including Provincetown. An attorney, she moved to Provincetown in 1992, where she and her wife Lynn owned and operated a bed and breakfast for 23 years. She resigned from the House in September 2024 to join Governor Maura Healey's administration.
Education and Political Experience
Peake served on the Provincetown High School Site Council, Charter Enforcement Commission, and was elected to the Provincetown Board of Selectmen in 2002. Elected to the Massachusetts House in 2007, she won 9 of 10 general elections and 10 of 10 primaries. Notable roles included Second Assistant Majority Leader , Chair of the Joint Committee on Municipalities and Regional Government and Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development, Vice-Chair of the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development, and member of the House Committee on Post Audit and Oversight. She chaired the Regional Transit Authority caucus, co-founded the rural caucus, and served as MA Legislative Commissioner on the Atlantic State Marine Fisheries Commission since 2009. Key achievements include securing funding for affordable housing, hunger relief, public transportation, school funding, and dredging, plus advocacy on housing, rural transportation, environment, climate change, and civil rights.
