Biography
Sarah LaTourette is a Republican who served as the state representative for Ohio's 76th House District, encompassing most of Geauga and northern Portage counties. Born on May 25, 1983, in Northeast Ohio , she was elected in November 2014 with nearly 70% of the vote and served her first term starting around that time, with records showing service through at least 2019. She previously co-chaired the Ohio Future Caucus. Notable achievements include introducing House Bill 6, signed into law six months after taking office, which extended the statute of limitations on rape from 20 to 25 years; involvement in efforts to open birth records; and work on bills addressing Ohio's opiate addiction crisis. LaTourette has demonstrated community service as a permanent mentor for children in foster care, fostering over 50 dogs with Golden Retriever Rescue, and volunteering with Adoption Network Cleveland and a nonprofit supporting Parkinson's patients. She resides in Bainbridge Township with her husband Scott and their pets.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Graduated from Miami University in 2006 with double majors in Political Science and History.
Political Experience: Post-college, worked for the Lake County Republican Party during the 2006 election and a political communications firm coordinating national grassroots campaigns for Fortune 100 companies. After six years in politics, shifted to nonprofit work. Served on House committees including agriculture and rural development, health and aging, state government and insurance; held roles as assistant to the majority whip and in Republican caucus leadership.
