Biography

Sarah Clark, a lifelong Rochester resident, serves as a Democratic member of the New York State Assembly for the 136th District since her swearing-in on November 12, 2020. She won the 2020 Democratic primary with 63% of the vote, backed by Hillary Clinton, Kirsten Gillibrand, and the Working Families Party, and faced no major-party opposition in the general election. Now in her third term, she lives in Rochester's Maplewood neighborhood with her husband, John, and their three children: Jack, Sean, and Grace. As a working mother, she mentors other moms in public office and prioritizes issues like affordable childcare, senior care, equitable education, and poverty reduction. Notable achievements include securing historic state investments to lower childcare costs and expand subsidies, as well as sponsoring the 2025 Student Lifeline Act to strengthen student mental health resources. Outside the Assembly, she volunteers at Summit Federal Credit Union on the Nominating Committee and serves on the Advisory Board for Vote Mama, a PAC supporting moms in politics.
