Biography
Sara Jacobs, born on February 1, 1989, in Del Mar, California, is a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives, serving California's 51st congressional district since January 3, 2023. Prior to redistricting, she represented the 53rd district from 2021 to 2023. Her district encompasses central and eastern portions of San Diego, including suburbs like El Cajon, La Mesa, Spring Valley, and Lemon Grove. At 36, she is the youngest member of California's congressional delegation and serves as the Caucus Leadership Representative, representing Democratic members with five terms or less in the House leadership.
Before her congressional tenure, Jacobs held positions at the United Nations, UNICEF, and the U.S. Department of State. She was also a policy advisor for Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign. In 2018, she founded "San Diego for Every Child," a coalition aimed at ending child poverty in San Diego County.
