Biography
Sara G. Innamorato is a Democratic politician and the current Allegheny County Executive, a position she has held since January 2, 2024. She is the first woman to serve in this role. Born on April 24, 1986, in Ross Township, Pennsylvania, she is a lifelong resident of Allegheny County and currently resides in Upper Lawrenceville.
Education
Innamorato graduated from North Hills High School in 2004 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Pittsburgh's College of Business Administration in 2008.
Political Experience
Before becoming County Executive, Innamorato served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 21st District from 2019 to 2023. She was elected to this position in 2018 with an overwhelming majority and was reelected in 2020 and 2022. During her tenure in the House, she served as Vice-Chair of the Allegheny County Delegation and was a member of committees focused on House Finance, Labor and Industry, Transportation, Health, and Housing and Community Development.
As a state representative, Innamorato championed legislation addressing affordable housing, minimum wage increases, environmental protections, opioid epidemic response, and reproductive healthcare. Her most notable legislative achievement was the Whole Home Repairs Act of 2022, which distributed $125 million in funding to help seniors and housing-insecure residents remain in their homes while supporting climate resilience and local workforce development.
In her current role as County Executive, Innamorato has prioritized homelessness reduction through the "500 in 500" initiative, which successfully housed over 600 people and identified over 500 housing units by its 500-day mark. She has also focused on economic development and launched the comprehensive county plan "Allegheny Forward" in 2025.
