Biography
Sandra Jauregui is a Democratic member of the Nevada State Assembly representing District 41 in the southern Las Vegas Valley . A survivor of the 2017 Las Vegas shooting, she is a prominent advocate for gun control, sponsoring key bills like AB291 and others on polling place restrictions and assault weapon age limits. In 2023, she became the Democratic Majority Leader of the Nevada Assembly. She currently works for Ticor Title of Nevada, launched a campaign for Nevada Lieutenant Governor , and has championed affordable housing, film tax credits, tourism expansion, workforce development, and infrastructure like Tahoe's water system.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Born and raised in Hacienda Heights, California, Jauregui moved to Las Vegas in 2009 to earn a bachelor's degree in History from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
- Early Career: Interned with former U.S. Senator Harry Reid on housing and mortgage policy; directed Nevada's Home Again homeowner relief program and the Financial Guidance Center's community development.
- Political Experience: Elected to Nevada Assembly District 41 in 2016 ; re-elected since, serving until 2026. Chairs Commerce and Labor Committee; focuses on housing affordability, insulin cost caps, jobs, wages, and climate-resilient infrastructure.
