Biography

Samara Heavrin is a Republican state representative for Kentucky's 18th District, which includes Grayson County and part of Hardin County. Born on March 12, 1992, in Leitchfield, Kentucky, she is Catholic and resides there with her golden retriever, Rosie. Elected in a 2019 special election, she became the youngest woman ever to serve in the Kentucky General Assembly. Notable achievements include serving as Chair of the House Families & Children Committee, receiving the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce's Most Valuable Policymaker award for House Bill 499 , being named a Toll Fellow and part of the 20 Under 40 by the Council of State Governments, and selection for the 2023 Rodel Fellowship. She previously co-chaired the Commission on Race and Access to Opportunity and the 2022 Task Force on Early Childhood Education. Heavrin is a small business owner of Barb’s Solutions and serves on the Owensboro Health Foundation Board. She is involved in numerous caucuses, including the Pro-Life Caucus, Women's Caucus, and Kentucky Sportsmen's Caucus.
