Senator Sam Zurier is a Democratic member of the Rhode Island State Senate representing District 3 in Providence, elected in November 2021. A lifelong Providence resident who grew up on the East Side and graduated from Classical High School, he has focused his public service on education, city finances, and community organizations.

• Education: Attended Yale University, Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, and Yale Law School .
• Professional Career: Civil litigation attorney in private practice; clerked for U.S. District Judge Rya Zobel and future Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer ; Assistant Attorney General in Massachusetts ; adjunct professor of education law at Roger Williams Law School.
