Biography
Salman Bhojani is a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives representing District 92 . Born in Pakistan, he immigrated to Texas as a teenager , worked three minimum-wage jobs such as at gas stations and convenience stores to support his family, and rose to become a successful attorney, business owner, real estate investor, Euless City Council member, and Mayor Pro Tem. He lives in Euless with his wife Nima and their two children. Notable achievements include being the first Muslim, first South Asian, and first person of color elected to the Texas Legislature and to represent District 92 when sworn in during 2023; he made national headlines as the first person of color and first Muslim American elected to Euless City Council in 2018. He serves as Vice Chair of the Delivery of Government Efficiency Committee, and is a member of the Trade, Workforce, and Economic Development Committee and its Workforce Subcommittee. Previously, during the 89th session, he served on the Criminal Jurisprudence Committee and the Pensions, Investments, and Financial Services Committee.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: B.A. from the University of Texas at Dallas; J.D. from Southern Methodist University; studied Comparative Law at Oxford University.
- Political Experience: Elected to Euless City Council and Mayor Pro Tem; Democratic Nominee for Texas House District 92 ; elected to Texas House and first sworn in 2023; authored legislation in the 88th and 89th sessions.
