Biography
Ryan William Pearson is a Democratic state senator representing District 19 in the Rhode Island Senate, first elected in November 2012. Born on June 30, 1988, in Cumberland, Rhode Island, he is a lifelong resident of the town and has focused his career on education reform, school infrastructure, economic development, tax reform, and job training. Notable achievements include leading the Senate's task force on school construction, which supported a $1 billion statewide plan for school improvements; chairing a 2020 task force on education funding equity; authoring a nationally recognized tax credit for college graduates staying in Rhode Island; and securing legislation for infrastructure improvements like roadway projects and clean water initiatives. He currently serves as Senate Majority Leader , having previously held roles as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senior Deputy Majority Leader, and Chairman of the Senate Finance Sub-Committee on Education, Commerce and Municipal Aid.
