Biography
Ryan Fazio is a Republican State Senator representing Connecticut's 36th District, which includes Greenwich, Stamford, and New Canaan. Elected in a special election in August 2021 and re-elected in 2022 and 2024, he serves as Republican Whip and Ranking Member on the Finance, Revenue & Bonding Committee and the Energy & Technology Committee, with additional roles on the Planning & Development, Transportation, and Education Committees. Notable achievements include leading efforts to cut electric rates and the public benefits charge, co-authoring bipartisan laws to improve student mental health, reduce clean energy costs, protect seniors, enhance utilities oversight, and defend local control of zoning and decision-making. - Community and Volunteer Work: Served seven years as a volunteer tutor in inner-city charter schools, including leadership in the KIPP network; volunteered with Greenwich United Way and Meals on Wheels; served on Greenwich Representative Town Meeting and the town's Energy Efficiency Committee.
- Political Experience: Prior local government service in Greenwich; state senator since 2021, focusing on tax reduction, energy cost cuts, bipartisan legislation, economy, public safety, and health care access; authored or co-sponsored over 30 bills, including measures on taxation, health care revitalization, education curriculum transparency, and skilled trade regulations.
