Biography

Ryan Dvorak is a Democratic member of the Indiana House of Representatives, representing District 8 in northern Indiana, which includes portions of South Bend and northern St. Joseph County, encompassing the campuses of the University of Notre Dame, Saint Mary's College, and Holy Cross College.

First elected in 2002, he serves on the Rules and Legislative Procedures Committee, Natural Resources Committee, and Judiciary Committee. Dvorak is recognized as a leading expert on renewable energy policy, having authored legislation on net metering, renewable energy standards, and utility accountability; he also sponsored laws on drunk driving prevention, methamphetamine crackdowns, job growth including the first "Buy Indiana" law, and bipartisan measures for "Do Not Call" improvements, historic preservation, benefit corporations, St. Joseph River Basin Commission updates, public corruption penalties, and cooperation with the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi.
