Biography
Ryan Joseph Bourriaque is a Republican member of the Louisiana House of Representatives representing District 47, which includes parishes of Calcasieu, Cameron, and Vermilion. A sixth-generation native of Cameron Parish, he resides in Grand Chenier and was elected in November 2018, assuming office in 2019; he is eligible to serve through 2028. He is married to Megan LaGrange Bourriaque and has three daughters. His occupation is with the Matilda Stream Management Company.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Louisiana State University; Master's in Agricultural Economics with a concentration in Natural Resource Economics and Environmental Policy from Louisiana State University.
Professional Experience: Assistant planner in the Cameron Parish Planning and Development Office ; grants planner for Minvielle & Associates in Abbeville; administrator for the Cameron Parish Police Jury since 2012.
Political Experience and Notable Positions: Vice-chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee and Ways & Means Committee; member of the Agriculture Committee; chair of Transportation, Highways and Public Works; chair of the Joint Legislative Committee on Capital Outlay; legislative appointment to the National Energy Council; member of the House Executive Committee, House Leadership Committee, Executive Board for the Rural Caucus, House Select Committee on Disaster Recovery, and interim ad hoc member of the House Commerce Committee. He has served on boards including the Chenier Plain Coastal Restoration and Protection Authority, Louisiana Sea Grant Advisory Council, Sowela Foundation Board, Cameron Lions Club, and Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana; vice-chairman of the St. Eugene Catholic Church Pastoral Council. He is part of the Acadiana Delegation and Louisiana Republican Legislative Delegation.
