Biography
Ryan P. Aument is a Republican politician from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Born December 16, 1976, in Lancaster, he is a lifelong resident of the county. Aument served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2011 to 2014, representing the 41st District, and subsequently served in the Pennsylvania State Senate from 2015 until his resignation on December 31, 2024, representing the 36th District. He resigned from his Senate seat to become State Director for U.S. Senator Dave McCormick.
Prior to his legislative career, Aument served as Lancaster County Clerk of Courts and held the position of council member in Quarryville. His military background is significant to his public service identity—he served as a captain in the U.S. Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he briefly commanded an infantry company of 150 soldiers after the company commander was wounded in combat. During his military service, he earned the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and Army Parachutist Badge.
Education
Aument graduated from Solanco High School in 1995 and earned his bachelor's degree in Education from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, in 1999.
