Biography
Ruth Ward is a Republican State Senator representing District 8 in the New Hampshire Senate, a position she has held since 2016. A grandmother, retired nurse practitioner, community leader, and conservative consensus builder, she has lived in Stoddard, NH, since 1995 with her husband and has nine grown children. Notable achievements include serving as a Master Weaver and juried member of the League of NH Craftsmen, as well as a Trustee of the American Textile History Museum. She has also contributed to statewide boards such as Land Steward for the Society for the Protection of NH Forests, the NH Rivers Management Advisory Council, and the Board of Advisors of the Appalachian Mountain Club. Her priorities include limiting government size, opposing sales or income taxes, and preserving New Hampshire's landscape. She previously served on the Stoddard Planning Board and Zoning Board.
Education and Political Experience
Education: BS in Nursing from Fitchburg State University; MA in Nursing from Boston University; Paralegal Certificate from NHTI.
Political Experience: Elected to the New Hampshire Senate for District 8 in 2016 and serving continuously since. Current roles include Chair of the Education Committee, Vice Chair of the Public and Municipal Affairs Committee, and member of the Transportation and Election Law Committees. She has also held leadership positions as Assistant Republican Whip and Deputy Republican Leader .
